German victory

Germany took the top spot in the first race at the junior World Championship in Lygna, Norway, on Tuesday. Helen Hoffman got some crucial space between herself and the competitors in the last hill before the finish, and won the race 2,6 seconds ahead of the Swedish Lisa Eriksson.

The host country got the bronze medal with Tuva Anine Brusveen-Jensen. She finished 8,2 seconds behind Hoffmann.

- I’m very happy about the gold medal and that I was able to get som space in the last hill at the stadium, Helen Hoffmann says.
The young German finished third at last year’s mass start at the junior WC.
-This was hard. The tracks here at Lygna are the toughest I’ve ever competed in, she says after crossing the finish line.

The Norwegian Tuva Anine Brusveen-Jensen was also very happy.
- I’m really proud of this performance, and it’s one of the best races I’ve done. It means a lot to get a World Championship medal, she says.
