Federica Sosio golden in Super-G, Rachel Kopp wins Alpine Combined!
HAFJELL, NORWAY: The fourth day of the FIS Alpine Junior World Championship was a challenging day for the host. Due to the weather and snow conditions the Super-G for men in Kvitfjell was cancelled and the race program for the day was postponed several times. After a while the Super-G for ladies started, and Federica Sosio from Italy raced to gold. She was followed by Mina Fürst Holtmann +0.21 from Norway and Rahel Kopp +0.30 from Switzerland.
“I’m really happy with my race today. I felt confident after the season I’ve had so far, so I was hoping to score a medal today”, the champion said.
Local hero Mina Fürst Holtmann sat in the leader chair for a while before Sosio raced into first place.
“This was amazing. I was hoping to score a medal today, and I knew I had some pretty good chances. I am very satisfied with my race”, the second place finisher said.
Rahel Kopp wins Alpine Combined
The day turned out to be a great one for 20-year-old Kopp as she won the Alpine Combined a few ours after the Super-G. Followed by Romane Miradoli (FRA +0.36) and Mina Fürst Holtmann (NOR +1.02).
“It’s an incredible feeling. I’m surprised in my Super-G performance, because slalom is my best discipline” the champion said.
The host nation has every reason to celebrate after Holtmanns bronze in the Alpine Combined in addition to the silver in Super-G.
“I’m surprised that I came top 3 in the combined today. My best discipline is Super-G and Downhill, so I’m very satisfied with todays races”, Holtmann said.
